Cruise Ship Service Returns to Philadelphia
Academy Supports First Launch from PhilaPort
After nearly 20 years, cruise ship service officially returned to Philadelphia, with the Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Jewel becoming the first major cruise ship to sail from the city.
The ship arrived at the new PhilaPort Cruise Terminal along the Delaware River, making the first passenger cruise departure from Philadelphia since 2011. Following its arrival, the vessel departed on its inaugural voyage to Bermuda.
The current schedule includes a series of 7-11 day itineraries to New England and Canada through September, after which Norwegian Pearl will continue operations from Philadelphia.
Designed to create a convenient and welcoming passenger experience, the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal offers easy access to downtown Philadelphia and Philadelphia International Airport.
While construction work at the terminal continues, Academy was proud to assist passengers with transportation service from nearby hotels to the terminal.
With extensive experience operating cruise transfers at ports from Boston to South Florida, Academy is excited to support this new chapter for Philadelphia's waterfront and looks forward to future cruise operations at PhilaPort.
